By following this manual, it has been assumed you already know how to set up and host Area Server. If you do not, please follow this guide https://www.dothack.org/topic/115-how-t ... omment=348 instead. Come back if you are interested in configuring your Area Server further.

I'm creating this post now because there might be people who are interested to know how Area Server works, and configure their own servers as a host. Around three years ago (as of writing this), I created a similar manual in my Google Docs, but never had been released. I stumbled upon it when I was looking though my Google Drive a few days ago. I am copying, pasting, and formatting it to fit this place. Hopefully this will help newcomers! I can get DMs via Discord: Ama#7639 or ping me in Fragment Resurgence server.

Note: I am planning to re-take screenshots and expand this further to make it more comprehensive in near future since I do not have Fragment installed right now. Some information here might be outdated or inaccurate.

This guide is centered around Map Editor. After setting up your server, you will want to change things around to your liking. This includes keywords, monsters, and maps. With Map Editor, it is also possible to change server name and root town. Also, depending on how long players play on your server, its level will increase to expand more contents (I believe) such as stronger monsters.

Basic Information
This covers changing server name and root town for your server.

Word Editor
The Word Editor allows you to drastically alter areas/dungeons by changing around properties for each keyword.

Creating & Editing Areas
The main feature of Map Editor is modifying the maps of the fields and dungeons across areas after it was generated using three keywords. All you have to do is to click the "New Map" in the Tool window to get started.
