area server.exe/data is damaged?

this is the only text i get in english or katakana (correct language?)

soo i dunno why but i cannot get area server.exe in any form or via the netslum file.
for what it's worth i've tried reverse compatability and whatnot to xp+ and im running win 8.1 (for reasons....)
any pointers, ? i'm at wits end.

I wanted to be able to run a server off my system as it is more than capable, and i have a few others i want to play frag with me.
for what its worth my config in psxemuwhatever allows me to get to the netslum online server, but yeah, wanted the joy of having my own root....

Strange indeed. It works on my pc, that very same file. Sounds like maybe your pc isnt understanding something somewhere. Try it on another computer or have a friend try it. That zip I sent has working files in it so it doesnt make sense that it works here and not there.

Are you just running netslum server.exe on its own or are you using it in conjunction with the original CC2 server files? The area server download on the downloads page wont work on its own.

Oh hey did you try installing the C++ Redist? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=30679

Click download and select the x86 version

yeah its odd, win 8.1 issue no doubt, the exact same setup for the server works on my win7 lappy, but its probably not optimal for hosting...

ty again both of you, but sofar everything is stuff ive done ie c++ redistrib, clean install, etc
