Newbie here.

I played IMOQ back when it came out and logged over 300 hours across all four games. Purchased G.U. On steam and only put 56 hours in so far. Not quite as compelled by Haseo, but I will complete it for the general .hack feel of it all.

Determined to get fragment up an running when I get home today. Already feeling very nostalgic. Any tips or recommendations for starters? I'm prepared to be playing on my own at first, seeing how small this community is. Will definitely create a discord account and join the server, in hopes of finding, if not a party, at least some on-topic interaction.

Here's to n00 beginnings. :P

You will definitely have an easier time getting people to play once you join the discord just because people tend to check that more than this website. Playing offline for a bit to get some levels will probably help a bit since playing solo online is a lot harder. Be prepared to grind if you are going to play online.

Prepared to grind, as in: "reach a specific level before online play"?

But in general, I'm ready to grind for sure.

No, online play in general is very grindy. The exp gains are very very low.
